COFFEE, We want COFFEE

Comment: Get a coffee shop in the library.

Response: We have been talking about this in our long term planning. At this time, it is not feasible to add a coffee shop, no place to put one, but we too love our coffee and tea and consider this something worthy of figuring out.

You can always stop at the local places such as Shawn's and Elleson's Bakery and bring your coffee to the library. If you have a Library travel mug, you will get a discount on your coffee purchase.

Wheat Sculpture

Comment: Why not put the metal wheat sculpture that was crowded into a small space on the front of the library in the parking lot. It would look nice there.

Response:  The metal wheat sculpture was removed from in location about two years ago in order to complete some repairs to the building.  We talked about moving the sculpture, but discovered that the base had rusted and the piece was in major disrepair. It was not financially feasible for the library to pay to have the sculpture repaired. The Board decided to give the sculpture back to the artist, Bart Woodstrup.

Free Proctoring, YES!

Comment: The free proctoring is amazing, please keep offering it because I love it!

Response: We are glad to be able to help you achieve your dreams and goals. We certainly plan to continue providing free proctoring services. In this day and age, education takes place in many forums and offering this added service for the community ensures that everyone can continue learning throughout their lifetime.

Baby Program

Comment:  "I would just like to suggest a babies program. I recently went to the one in DeKalb and it was wonderful, not to mention way overcrowded. I think a lot of Sycamore residents, such as myself, are driving to DeKalb to attend this. A program for babies through age 18 months or 2 years would be very fun and wildly popular in my opinion."

Response: In addition to our regularly scheduled Toddler Times occurring on Tuesday mornings throughout the year, we are happy to announce that Angie Carter will be returning once again to the Sycamore Library! Please be sure to stop by every other Friday at 10:00 am, April 3rd- June 26th.

We Want More

Comment: More recent copies of books, movies, e.t.c.

Response: Thank you for reaching out to us. As a popular interest library we try to have at least 1 copy of the highest grossing or award winning movies, music, and books. Additionally we order up to five copies of every best selling books. We also try to order those books in different formats such as large print, Spanish, audio-book, e-book, and e-audio. In addition to best sellers, we have a dedicated team of collection development specialists who strive to provide our residents with a well balanced and relevant collection. That being said, there are more books printed every year than our staff has time to discover. We love to receive recommendations from our patrons. To make a recommendation simply head over to www.sycamorelibrary.org/purchase-request to suggest an item for our staff to consider for purchase.

Serenity

Comment: Purchase the movie "Serenity." The movie is unavailable for rental and must be bought to view online. So it would give those who can't afford it a chance to watch it.

Response: Thank you for your suggestion! Serenity used to be in our collection but disappeared over the years. We agree that this movie would be a valuable re-addition to the collection. As soon as we received your suggestion we purchased the item, and it should be in our collection within the next few weeks.

New DVD/CD Shelving

Comment: You should have a new separate display for New DVDs/CDs.

Response: Excellent suggestions. We are currently looking into purchasing a display option for our new DVDs. However, CDs do currently have a "NEW" section located directly atop their shelving. Any Library staff member would be more than happy to show your their exact location.
